A stoneware vessel with lid to keep butter fresh and spreadable without refridgeration.

The lid works as a recepticle to store the butter while water is added to the base. The water rises up the side of the lid and sits on the surface of the butter to keep it fresh and spreadable on the kitchen bench.

Two holes help the water rise to the surface of the butter, when it is low, and a recessed area beneath the rim of the lid helps it sit snugly. The lid is flat so it can rest on the table when in use.

It is recommended that the water be refreshed every few days and a touch of salt be added to the water if the butter is unsalted.
